The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, which monitors shipping rates for vessels carrying dry commodities, rebounded on Tuesday, ending its eight-day decline with a 0.5% increase to 2,204 points. This uptick was largely attributed to gains in the larger vessel segment. The capesize index, which generally handles cargoes of around 150,000 tons, such as iron ore and coal, saw a second consecutive day of growth, climbing 3.1% to reach 3,834 points. This rise is likely due to an increase in iron ore prices. Conversely, the panamax index, which transports 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, continued its downward trend for the 14th consecutive day, falling by 4.1% to 1,577 points, marking its lowest level since July 8. The supramax index also experienced a slight decline, dropping by 25 points to 1,335 points.
